Poll Hereford Reference Sires
The below The sires below are some of our most recent herd and AI sires. We source bulls/genetics that will produce cattle that meet our breeding programme objectives and will produce profitable functional cattle for New Zealand beef producers. Sires must be easy-fleshing, structurally sound with big thick tops and hindquarters. We endeavour to view all international sires used, their dams and relatives. Females are the foundation of any breeding programme and a bull that does not have a productive, maternal dam with a good udder will not be a top sire. The most influential sires in recent years have been Te Taumata Emperor (by Kilmorlie Deliverance), 4K Survivor and Te Taumata Superstar.

Aspin has been retained as an elite young herd sire at Te Taumata. We like his depth of body and constitution, structural correctness and his big square back end. Aspin is by a consistent old herd sire Te Taumata Viking and out of a productive Te Taumata Premier cow. He ran with the cows as a young yearling and performed exceptionally well under poor feed conditions. We look forward to his calves arriving in August 2011. Pictured at 21 months of age.

| TE TAUMATA SUPERSTAR | dob: 01/08/2002 | click for large pic
|
Superstar is an outstanding bull that has proven himself as a sire of thick, fast-growing calves for profitable beef producers. Superstar is a genetic curve-bender. He is one of the few growth rate trait leaders with figures in the top 1% of the Hereford breed with a well-below breeed average birth weight EBV of 3.5 and a moderate mature cow size. This means his calves hit the ground, grow quickly and then mature to a practical commercial cow size or carcase weight. Selection indexes are in the top 1% of the breed.
Superstar's dam Belle 123 is a Gold Benchmark Dam (8 progeny) and his sire's dam Belle 104 is a Silver Benchmark Dam (11 progeny).
Superstar has generated world-wide interest and semen sales. Export qualified semen is available in Australia and Canada. A limited amount of NZ domestic semen is still available. Superstar is deceased. Pictured at 3.5 years
